Clipping around an intersection

You can cut away an extra gap around intersections in a 2D grid using the Clip Around Intersection tool. An intersection can be any disconnection between neighbor nodes which has been created by computing the neighbor connections. If your intention is to remove certain nodes or groups of nodes, other removal tools are also available that handle the removal of nodes in a variety of ways.

To perform clipping:

  1. Open the tool (prepare > Post-Processing Tools > Removal > Clip around Intersection).
  2. From the Model drop-down list, select the source that contains the 2D grid you want to clip. All the 2D grids in the selected model are shown in the area below.
  3. Check the checkboxes next to the grid or grids you want to clip.
  4. In Gap size, set the size of the gap to be created around the detected intersections.
  5. Optionally, check the Dip checkbox and enter a dip threshold value to only remove nodes with a dip property value greater than this.
  6. Optionally, check the Smoothness checkbox and enter a smoothness threshold value to only remove nodes with a smoothness property value greater than this.
  7. Click Apply or OK to clip the grid or grids.
